The Dippers

Combining the disabled and able-bodied together to offer fun and exercise in the water

Who we are

We are a friendly informal group, offering fun and exercise in the water. Common sense tells us that there are many advantages to being physically fit. People with minor physical disabilities to the wheel-chair bound, fitness can improve their quality of life. We offer short and long term membership.

Aims

The combination of the disabled and able-bodied interacting together, can offer support to each other and encouragement by those who are working with them, even struggling with them, concentrating on what can be achieved and over-coming the difficulties faced.

Help

We have helpers to guide the non-swimmers to exercise in the water and encourage the able swimmers. Aid with dressing and undressing, with personal hygiene, if required. They are understanding, resourceful, empathic to our needs.

Transport

Transport may be arranged to and from the pools, if required.

Pools

The pools offer a range of disabled facilities, allowing you to relax with the knowledge that the aids are available to encourage independence, respect and enjoyment.

Jedburgh Swimming Pool:- Monday and Thursday Noon - 1pm
Kelso Swimming Pool:- Wednesday Noon - 1pm

Afterwards

We attend a local cafe for lunch and a blether, also members welcome to shop at a nearby foodstore.

With these ingredients we can offer you a tiring but enjoyable day.

Go on - you can make a difference.
