Parklands – Wilton Lodge Park Hawick

Extensive park area at the edge of Hawick steeped in Hawick history. Wide tarmac paths with only a few slopes and uneven sections. Paths follow the river Teviot and bridges over the river allow views of trout and riverside birds such as mallard, blackheaded gulls and oystercatcher. Further paths return to the museum through the park. Some natural woodland and some manicured lawns with colourful flower beds.

Café in park open in summer months has ramped access.

Accessible picnic tables.

Sports fields in park include crazy golf, putting, tennis and rugby, football etc.

Scensory garden has ramped access on paving slabs to raised beds of lavender, mint, curry plant, lemon balm and thyme.

Hawick Museum in the park has ramped access to ground floor for displays and museum exhibits. Also lift within the museum to Scott Gallery.

Walled Gardens have parking adjacent to them.

Look out for : Parkland trees and exotic specimen trees. Oak, Horse Chestnut, Lime, Poplar, Yew, Cypress, Spruces, Birches, Weeping Ash, Copper Beech, Red Norway Maple. Blackbirds,Thrush, Nuthatch.

Toilets : disabled access toilet at Wilton Lodge Museum

Parking : for disabled badge holders is available outside the museum from where the paths around the park are easily accessed.

Other Access to the park : is from the playpark on the A7 to the south of the town where the park can be accessed via a bridge. Also the main gates of the park which are adjacent to the Common Haugh car park where there is free parking.
