Lochs and Reservoirs - St Marys Loch and Loch of the Lowes

Lochs with views of surrounding hillsides.
Layby at edge of St Marys Loch provides views of Bowerhope across the loch and wildflowers on roadside meadow.

Parking at Oxcleuch Haugh between the two lochs by the Glen Cafe. for views. From here it is a walk uphill across rough fields to the statue of the Ettrick Shepherd.
The famous hostelry Tibbie Shiels is nearby.

Look out for tame chaffinch, also swans, mallards, goldeneye, gooseander, peregrine falcons, osprey, buzzard. Also heather, tormentil, heath bedstraw, marsh thistle.
Also along the eastern side of loch in fields are parkland native trees planted in individual enclosures.

WC RADAR wheelchair access toilets adjacent to the Glen Cafe. Ramp is fairly steep.
