Coastal - St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve

St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve
The Marine Reserve Ranger may present an illustrated talk to local groups on request. This talk shows some of the wildlife to be found on the Reserve. On request, a special rockpool wildlife activity can be arranged (possibly with help from Scottish Borders Council Countryside Rangers), if a group or individual would like a hands-on experience of some of the rockpool animals, such as starfish and sea-urchins. The Ranger may meet groups near the shore at St Abbs Coldingham Sands and Eyemouth and show people the rockpool animals.
Rockpool animals you might see include
Beadlet anemones, Hermit crab, Shore crab, topshell, periwinkle, dog whelk, whelk, flat periwinkle, common starfish, purple starfish (picture), prawns, shrimps, chiton, barnacles, limpets, and also a variety of seaweeds such as knotted wrack, channelled wrack and kelp.
