Rivers- Salmon ladder, Philiphaugh by Selkirk

Salmon viewing area by River Ettrick at Salmon ladder on the cauld. Level stone path with short steep section is a bit rough and gravelly. Path goes from Car park and Visitor Centre across a bridge by the old restored waterwheel. Wheelchairs may get wheels stuck in largeish slats of bridge. Path goes along edge of field for around quarter of a mile to reach the riverside. Return on same path.
Visitor Centre is accessible with Live video link to underwater cameras to see fish. Also recorded video footage to view salmon in case none to be seen in the river. Recorded video of local Ospreys. Information on the salmon life cycle and conservation. Also information on the Tweed Forum and the Tweed Foundations research on the Tweed Salmon and other fish. Childrens corner in visitor Centre.
At riverside Look out for - jumping salmon especially in Spring and Autumn months. Also kingfisher, heron, dippers, goosander and otters. Blue tits, Great tits, and Nuthatch at peanut feeders near visitor centre.
How to get there - From Selkirk take the Moffat Road for a mile or so and turn in to Philiphaugh Farm.
