Historic Viewpoint - Soutra Aisle near Lauder

Partially restored ruins, information cairn, viewpoint.
The site of the ancient sanctuary and once powerful hospice of Soutra.
Used during the 17th Century. As well as a hospital the site included bakery, pharmacy, and stables. Plant remains have been found at the site and information boards give details of plant remains and some possible uses of them in a hospital situation.

From Car Park the access is by a fairly level tarmac path with one steep section by the road. Level tarmac path continues around the restored building and up to the information area. Information mounted on stone cairn at wheelchair accessible level
