Woodlands - Gala Policies Galashiels

Open all year.
Old Oak trees, policy woodland trees, pond and some bench seats.
There is a network of paths, some of which are hard even surfaced paths.
A wide hard surfaced path with low gradients can be followed to a viewpoint.
A hard level surfaced path through the grass area will take you from the old driveway to the pond. Boardwalk path around pond to grassy area. Grass area soft and muddy after wet weather. The grass is a hard surface after long period of dry weather. Bench seat, Picnic table.
At the time of writing the Southern Upland Way from the Swimming Pool area to the pond is very muddy. It is hoped that during 2008 that this path will be restored to a wide level hard surfaced path.
Look out for ancient and specimen trees including Mature Oak, Mature Beech and Copper Beech, Noble Fir, Weeping Ash, Monkey Puzzle, Giant Sequioa, Variegated Maple.
At the Pond look out for Mallard , Moorhen, Heron, Grey wagtail.
Also look out for Grey Squirrel, Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Wren, Jackdaws, Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit, Bullfinch, and Tawny Owl
Parking :There is a small Car Park adjacent to the woodland – No special provision
Toilets :Nearest wheelchair access RADAR toilet Galashiels.
